24/7 FREELANCER UNIVERSE Official Rules
There are only 3 official rules in game on FLU. They are:
1). No Cheating
Cheating is dishonorable and brings no glory to you or your clan. It robs both you and your fellow players of the opportunity to develop and demonstrate your skills. Using quirks or bugs in the game against other players will not be tolerated. Admins reserve the right to determine what qualifies as a cheat.
2). No Modding
Modding is similar to cheating but involves the alteration of your player files in order to gain an advantage over another player, or to affect game play on the server. When modding is detected, Admins or Server Police [SP] will, at their discretion, either discipline or ban the offender according to their best judgment.
3). No Swearing
The intent of the Admins is to provide a player experience free from offensive or abusive language. FLU has players ranging in age from young children to mature adult. We wish all players to be able to play without feeling uncomfortable because the language does not conform to socially acceptable norms. (Just because the language may be ‘normal’ to you does not make it socially acceptable).
For those of you who insist on exercising your 1st amendment rights, be advised that FLU is NOT America, the FLU administration is NOT a democracy, and while we are generally very tolerant of individual expression, we will not tolerate flagrant violations of this rule.
A list of offensive language will not be published as it would be counter-productive to our efforts in keeping the language on the forums and the server clean. Suffice it to say that if you are not sure if it is a prohibited word, don’t use it.
Consider your speech thusly:
>If you used the word in question in front of your parents when you were younger and got smacked across the room, then it’s swearing.
>If you would not use the word in question in front of your clergyman, mother, father, grandmother, on TV or radio, or to a policeman, then it’s swearing.
>If you would not use the word in question against a 300# muscle-bound professional wrestler with an attitude problem and a dozen drinks on board, then it’s swearing.
>If you did use the word on TV or radio and heard a beep over it, then it’s swearing.
>If an Admin or Server Police [SP] calls it swearing, then it’s swearing.
Get the idea? Good. Thank you Very Much for your cooperation. We want you and everyone else to have a good time here. If you can not have a good time without swearing, then go seek professional help because you have bigger issues than we can solve here.
Abusive and offensive language includes:
Racially offensive speech
Sexually oriented speech
Speech of a morally offensive nature
Insulting language intended as a personal attack on another player
Insulting language against another culture or nationality in other than a joking nature
Insulting language against a religion or against God
Admins reserve the right to determine whether or not the speech is offensive. In most cases the offender will be given an opportunity to desist from the offensive behavior and life will go on. If the player insists on violating this rule then a ban is likely.
Administration software keeps a log of all chats in system, private, or group chats. If you do not wish your comments to be logged then don’t say them.
