What Makes FLU Different?
Well, besides the fact that we have the best people; players, and admins *cough, cough* here’s what else we offer:

Current Mods Running on FLU:

Player Startup: All players start with 5,000 credits. We’ve removed the Rhino and neutral rep startup for now. It’s more of a challenge to go about acquiring a neutral rep. For those of you who’ve played for a long time you know that it can be done in only a few minutes. If the demand is there for the neutral rep startup we may reconsider.

Freighters are lootable: This means that any player who is flying a freighter is a target for pirates. All unmounted equipment, ammunition, and commodities are dumped into space upon your death by another player. This loot can then be tractored in by the player who killed you and any other nearby players. This relieves the tedium of trading and adds an element of suspense. The freighter pilot needs to pay attention and use strategy to avoid pirates in order to make a profit.

NPC Shield regens: All NPC ships that have shields will recharge their shields while in combat. This makes missions a little harder and makes the NPCs more of a challenge.

Battleship Encounters: FLU runs a modified version of the XTS Advanced Battleship Encounters mod version 1. You will periodically see battlegroup formations throughout the inner systems and in the Unknown systems. Battleships drop loot and CODEWEPS when they are destroyed. All ships in the battlegroups have upgraded weapons, armor, and equipment making their destruction a challenge for the single player. Weapons on bases, docking rings, tradelane rings, weapons platforms, and jump gates have also been upgraded.

Increased Nomads in the Unknowns: Nomad battlegroups spawn in the Unknowns and fighter group formations are increased in size and in difficulty. This makes the farming of Nomad weapons more difficult.

High Paying Missions at Manhattan: Manhattan now offers missions that pay in excess of 200,000 credits and missions against Battleships. This is still a work in progress.

Advanced Champion HF Shield, Paralyzer Missile, and an FLU exclusive, the Fireball Missile: These very powerful level 10 pieces of equipment are available only to players who have donated $50 or more to help support the server. Don’t ask for them otherwise. This is one of the few ways we can show appreciation for those who appreciate the server, us, and what we do.

The FLU Addon Client Mod: FLU offers an optional client-side mod that offers some additional features. The mod adds the Anubis, Anubis Type II, Armored Transport, Armored Transport Mk II, CSV, Blood Dragon, and Defender Elite ships. These ships are available for purchase on bases throughout Sirius. Also added are freighter shields appropriate for the CSV and the Reaper and Death Hand class guns have been upgraded and made available as well.

In addition to these features we have added the ability to fly Capital Ships such as the Liberty and Rheinland Cruisers, Liberty Dreadnought, Bretonia, Kusari, and Rheinland Gunboats, Bretonia and Kusari Destroyers, Bretonia, Kusari, and Rheinland Battleships, the Osiris (as Liberty Battleship), the Heavy Cruiser (Prison Liner available with gun packages from all four houses), and the Escort Cruiser (Luxury Liner with Liberty guns). We also have the Transport (2 pods), Large Transport (4 pods), Mining Vessel, and Repair Ship which features guns that actually repair their target instead of destroying it.

These ships are available for purchase through an admin, they are not available in game. See forum for more details.

Other equipment such as the class 8 Graviton shield for Heavy Fighters and the Class 10 Molecular shield for Very Heavy Fighters have been added as well as other minor pieces.

Players running the mod can change out their engine colors at any base that sells ships. In order to purchase a particular engine you must go to the base that sells the ship that carries that engine. For example, if you’re looking to change the color of your engines to green, go to any Rheinland base that sells the Valkyrie and you will be able to purchase a Valkyrie engine there. This works on all Fighters and Freighters with the exception of the CSV and the Armored Transports.
